David L. Sotl is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Al Sotl of Glen Carbon, IL. David grew up in Glen Carbon and attended local public schools, graduating from Edwardsville High School Class of 1948. He married Ms. Etta Rae Patton of Edwardsville and in August, 1950 enlisted in the United States Air Force. Private First Class Sotl was regularly stationed at the Brookley Air Force Base, Mobile, Alabama and was serving as an airplane mechanic. PFC Sotl and his wife had gone on a beach picnic near Pensacola, Florida when he drowned in the Gulf of Mexico. Private First Class David L. Sotl is survived by his parents and his wife. He was 21 years, 3 months and 19 days of age.
