William M. Blume Jr.

July 4, 1893 - September 27th, 1918

William Michael Blume Jr. was born in Alhambra on the 4th of July, 1893 and relocated with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. William Blume to the family's residence on Grand Ave., Edwardsville when he was 14 months old. William attended public schools in Edwardsville and worked on the family farm as a young man. Later he was employed at the plant of the Home Ice and Fuel Company when he answered the nations call for military service on September 3, 1918. Private Blume was stationed at Camp Grant, Rockford, IL and was selected to be transferred to Officers Training School when he was afflicted by Spanish Influenza. Private Michael M. Blume Jr. died a few days later. Funeral services were held at the family residence, Rev. H. Rahn of Eden Evangelical church and burial is in Marine, Illinois. He is survived by his parents and a sister, Mrs. Joseph Schwager. Private William M. Blume, Jr. was 25 years,
2 months and 26 days of age.
