Guy Weeks and brother Roy, were the sons of Edwardsville police officer Ben W. Weeks and Clara (remarried) Mills of 518 Randle St., Edwardsville, Illinois. Guy joined the Marines in November, 1917 and was sent to France in March, 1918 as a member of 96th Marines 2nd Battery, Sixth Regiment. Private Weeks was seriously wounded in France in July, 1918, which required a stay in the hospital for more than a month. He told the doctors that he was anxious to rejoin his unit as soon as possible. Private Guy Weeks was killed in action in France. He is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery in Edwardsville, Illinois and was 27 years, 8 months and 24 days of age.
