Leo M. Johnson

Corporal - United States Army

November 17, 1908 - June 12th, 1944

Leo M. Johnson is the son of Mr. Robert L. & Mary Johnson of the vicinity of Worden, IL. Corporal Johnson served in the Pacific theater battling the Japanese. He was killed in action in New Guinea. Corporal Johnson was brought to Marks-Weber Funeral Home in Edwardsville and services were held at Zion Lutheran Church in Carpenter by Rev. R.G. Kurz, burial with full military honor guard provided by the V.F.W. at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville. Surviving are his mother, are his twin sister, Mrs. Lillian Woodcock, and brothers, Clifton, Edward, Robert, Theodore, Lewellyn, Arthur and Herbert Johnson. Corporal Johnson's father died September 26, 1944, a little more than three months after his son's death. Corporal Leo M. Johnson was 35 years, 6 months and 26 days of age.
