Wilbert V. Adamick

Sergeant - United States Army

May 17, 1930 - July 9th, 1953

Wilbert Vincent Adamick is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Vincent Adamick of Glen Carbon, IL. Wilbert grew up in Glen Carbon and attended St. Boniface Elementery Catholic School and Edwardsville High School, but did not finish as his family moved to Arnett, Missouri. Wilbert entered the Army in 1950, was assigned to the 17th Infantry Regiment, 7th Infantry Division and attained the rank of Sergeant. Sgt. Wilbert Adamick was killed in action on "Pork Chop Hill" in Korea, after spending six months at the front. Sgt. Adamick was awarded The Purple Heart, The Combat Infantry Badge and The Korean Service Medal. He is survived by his parents, an older brother, Robert and sister, Mae, both graduated from Edwardsville High School and a younger brother, Lester, who attended St. Boniface School. Sgt. Adamick is buried in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville, IL. Sergeant Wilbert V. Adamick was 23 years, one month and 22 days of age.
