Ronald D. Keller

Corporal - United States Marine Corps

December 25, 1948 - May 10th, 1969

Ronald D. Keller is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Loren Simmons of Worden, IL. Ron received his grade school education in Roxanna and graduated from Edwardsville High School Class of 1967. Ron enlisted in the Marines right after high School and received his basic training at Camp Pendleton, California and advanced training at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Cpl. Keller was on his second tour of duty in Viet Nam and had already received two Purple Heart medals, when in his third week of his second tour, his unit came under fire in Cam Lo, Quang Tri Province in Viet Nam. Cpl Keller was killed in action by mortar fire. Besides his parents, Cpl. Keller is survived by two brothers, Gerald and Larry and two sisters, Mrs. Shirley McDowell and Mrs. Delores McGee. Corporal Ronald D. Keller is buried in Worden City Cemetery in Worden, Illinois and was 20 years, 5 months and 15 days of age.
